Congressman Lee Zeldin Statement on Cuomo’s Continued Efforts to Smear & Undermine His Victims & Investigators

NEW YORK – Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), who has been named the presumptive nominee for Governor of New York by both the New York Republican and Conservative Parties, issued the following statement after Governor Andrew Cuomo and his legal team continued attacking his victims and investigators:

“Only a sociopath and serial predator like Governor Andrew Cuomo would actually think he could get away with this. His continued attempts to undermine his victims, this investigation and those carrying it out are disgusting and further render him unfit to serve as Governor of New York.

“New York needs a leader to restore our state to glory, rather than lurch from scandal to scandal, neglecting the duties of his office and his responsibilities to his constituents. New Yorkers need a Governor who will put their priorities first, not prioritize self-preservation in the face of endless misconduct. This is a crisis of leadership, and it’s up to every New Yorker to hold Cuomo accountable and Save Our State.

“Instead of continuing to hurt his victims and the New Yorkers he’s supposed to serve, Andrew Cuomo should take what little is left of his dignity and resign immediately. Being that he is clearly set on not resigning, the legislature must impeach and remove him. Crimes must result in charges and prosecution. If the Assembly doesn’t impeach him, New Yorkers will hold him and everyone who has enabled him responsible at the ballot box in 2022.”

Congressman Lee Zeldin Statement on AG Report Finding Governor Cuomo Harassed, Abused, and Retaliated Against Current and Former Employees

Zeldin: Cuomo Must Resign or be Impeached

NEW YORK – Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), who has been named the presumptive nominee for Governor of New York by both the New York Republican and Conservative Parties, issued the following statement and demanded that Governor Andrew Cuomo resign or be impeached after New York State Attorney General Letitia James released a report which found that Governor Andrew Cuomo harassed, abused and retaliated against current and former employees

“Andrew Cuomo must resign or be impeached. Cuomo institutionalized widespread abuse within his administration and tried to silence his many victims, which enabled him to continue openly preying on those around him. Over the last few months, Cuomo has continued his attempts to undermine the investigations into his wrongdoing and those carrying them out, and I have no doubt he will continue to do so following the release of the report.

“It’s up to all of us to hold him accountable. Governor Cuomo must resign, and if he doesn’t resign, Democrats running the State Legislature in Albany must impeach him. If they don’t impeach him, we must hold Governor Cuomo and every single person who has enabled him accountable at the ballot box on Election Day 2022. Whether it’s the deadly nursing home order and coverup, his absurd $5.1 million self-congratulatory book deal, or rampant sexual harassment, abuse, and intimidation, New York needs new leadership to restore our state to glory, rather than govern scandal to scandal. New Yorkers need a Governor who will put their priorities first, not prioritize self-preservation in the face of endless misconduct. This is a crisis of leadership, and it’s up to every New Yorker to hold Cuomo accountable and save our state.”

Rensselaer County Executive, County Republican Party & Local Electeds Endorse Congressman Lee Zeldin for Governor

PRESS RELEASE

Congressman Zeldin, Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin, Rensselaer County Republican Party Members and other local elected officials speak at the Rensselaer Esplanade on Friday, July 16, 2021.

NEW YORK – Today, the Rensselaer County Republican Party and local elected officials, including County Executive Steve McLaughlin, County Clerk Frank Merola, County Sheriff Pat Russo, Rensselaer Mayor Mike Stammel, Town Supervisors and members of the Rensselaer County Legislature, endorsed Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) for Governor of New York State.

“Once, New York State was recognized as a world leader in economic advancement, a home to research and technological development, opportunity and strong quality of life. Today, it is sadly known as a state that residents seek to escape from, to get away from failed and corrupt leadership. We need to save New York with new leadership at the top, and Lee Zeldin is our choice for Governor,” said County Executive Steve McLaughlin.

“New York today is less safe, more expensive and plagued by scandal after scandal. Upstate has completely been forgotten. It is time for a change in the Governor’s mansion, and that change starts with Lee Zeldin,” said County Clerk Frank Merola.

“Too many residents do not feel safe in their homes or communities because of failed policies like Bail Reform. Change after change in our laws has allowed criminals to gain the upper hand and hurt our state and our residents. That is why we need Lee Zeldin as our next Governor, because he recognizes the need to make New York safer,” said Sheriff Pat Russo.

“New Yorkers have lost faith in their state government because the state has become captive to downstate progressive interests. Upstate communities do not get the attention they deserve or need and we believe that will change with Lee Zeldin as our Governor,” said Rensselaer Mayor Mike Stammel.

To date, the Suffolk, Nassau, Monroe, Ontario, Tioga, Madison, Oneida, Broome, Schenectady, Allegany, Steuben, Livingston, Wayne, Yates, Seneca, Schuyler, Orleans, Tompkins, Cayuga, Montgomery, Cattaraugus, Herkimer, Oswego, Ulster, Erie, Niagara, Columbia, Schoharie, Greene, Chautauqua, Onondaga, Richmond, Saratoga, Dutchess, Orange, Albany, Kings, Wyoming, Essex, Genesee, Otsego, Cortland, Chenango, Delaware, Queens, Sullivan and Rensselaer County Republican Party Chairs have endorsed Congressman Lee Zeldin, representing over 83% of the New York State GOP’s weighted gubernatorial vote. Over 50% is needed to become the endorsed Republican Party candidate for Governor.

Congressman Zeldin has been named the “presumptive nominee” for Governor of New York by both the Republican and Conservative Parties.
