New York County Republican Committee Endorses Congressman Lee Zeldin for Governor

NEW YORK – The New York County Republican Committee just announced its endorsement of Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) for Governor of New York.

“New York is at a breaking point, and nowhere is that more clear than New York City,” said New York County Republican Committee Chair Andrea Catsimatidis. “Criminals rule our streets thanks to the fatally flawed liberal policies of Democrats controlling every level of government, our cost of living is out of control and mandates and restrictions have decimated our once vibrant city. About Lee Zeldin

Lee Zeldin was born and raised on Long Island. He grew up in Suffolk County and graduated from William Floyd High School in Mastic Beach, where his identical twin daughters attend school today. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Albany and then his law degree from Albany Law School, becoming New York’s youngest attorney at the time at the age of 23.

Lee spent four years on Active Duty with the U.S. Army after completing ROTC and served in different capacities, including as a Military Intelligence Officer, Prosecutor, and Military Magistrate. In the summer of 2006, while assigned to the Army’s elite 82nd Airborne Division, Lee deployed to Iraq with an infantry battalion of fellow paratroopers in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In 2007, Lee returned to Suffolk County with his family. It was at this time that Lee transitioned from Active Duty to the Army Reserve, where he currently serves with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

NEW YORK – Today, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), who has been named the presumptive nominee for Governor of New York by both the New York Republican and Conservative Parties, announced New York Police Department (NYPD) Deputy Inspector Alison Esposito as his running mate and candidate for Lieutenant Governor.

“Deputy Inspector Alison Esposito is a fighter who has served a long time here at the NYPD and has instilled fear in the hearts of criminals everywhere. It is exciting news for New York State, that Alison is now willing to bring her fighting spirit, vision, ideas, and energy to the state capital,” said Congressman Zeldin. “She will not look back. She refuses to lose, and as I say, and Alison also believes, losing is not an option.”

More about NYPD Deputy Inspector Alison Esposito’s Biography: 

Following in the footsteps of her father, NYPD Chief Michael Esposito, proudly serving New York City, Alison has served in the New York City Police Department since 1997, rising to the rank of Deputy Inspector. Alison joined the NYPD because she believes that New Yorkers, especially those who need help, are in danger, and cannot protect themselves, have the right to be protected.

After joining the NYPD, she started off on patrol in Manhattan’s Midtown South precinct. From there, she went on to join the Anti-Crime team, a plain clothes unit targeting violent street crime, and after taking down some of the worst criminals, she joined the NYPD’s Emergency Services Unit. Alison then served in the Bronx and on the NYPD’s Gang Unit and on many other assignments, which brought her to the 70th precinct in Brooklyn where she served as Deputy Inspector.

For too long, Alison has witnessed the state and city she loves deteriorate in a spiraling decline. Congressman Lee Zeldin Statement on Weekend’s NYC Subway Violence

NEW YORK – Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), who has been named the presumptive nominee for Governor of New York by both the New York Republican and Conservative Parties, issued the following statement after at least six people were stabbed this past weekend in the New York City Subway system:

“This past weekend, there were at least six separate stabbings in the NYC subway system! The streets and subways in NYC are being surrendered to criminals due to politicians pathetically pandering to the far-left. Kathy Hochul needs to fire Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, cashless bail needs to be repealed, and our law enforcement should be supported more, not less. The reality is that a vote for Kathy Hochul is a vote for continued crime and chaos. This is all getting much worse before it gets better due to her cowardice and silence. I’m all in to win this race for Governor to Save Our State. Let’s get this done.” 

At the beginning of February, Congressman Zeldin laid out his Secure Our Streets Plan for New York.

NEW YORK – On Tuesday, February 15, 2022, the Suffolk County Police Benevolent Association, Suffolk County Superior Officers Association, Suffolk County Detectives Association, Suffolk County Probation Officers Association, Suffolk County Detective Investigators PBA, Suffolk County Police Conference, Amityville Village PBA, and Northport Village PBA endorsed the Gubernatorial candidacy of Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), who has been named the presumptive nominee for Governor of New York by both the New York Republican and Conservative Parties.

The announcement comes as crime skyrockets across the state and cashless bail, the Less is More Act, and other policies put our police officers and the New Yorkers they serve in harm’s way.

Congressman Zeldin Spends Day Campaigning in Rochester, Makes 10 Campaign Stops

ROCHESTER – Today, February 11, 2022, Congressman Lee Zeldin, who has been declared the presumptive nominee by both the Republican and Conservative Parties, for Governor of New York, spent the day campaigning in Rochester, making a total of 10 campaign stops throughout the area.

Congressman Zeldin kicked off the day meeting with Rochester area faith leaders, discussing ways in which New Yorkers of all faiths can work together to root out hate in our communities, making our communities safer for all New Yorkers and secure a brighter future for our future generations.

Following the roundtable, Congressman Zeldin had a meeting with local law enforcement advocates about the need to support local men and women in blue and ensure they have the resources they need to fight back against skyrocketing crime in Rochester.

Congressman Zeldin ended the night as the keynote speaker at the Monroe County Conservative Party Dinner.

About Lee Zeldin
Lee Zeldin was born and raised on Long Island. He grew up in Suffolk County and graduated from William Floyd High School in Mastic Beach, where his identical twin daughters attend school today. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Albany and then his law degree from Albany Law School, becoming New York’s youngest attorney at the time at the age of 23.
Lee spent four years on Active Duty with the U.S. Army after completing ROTC and served in different capacities, including as a Military Intelligence Officer, Prosecutor, and Military Magistrate. In the summer of 2006, while assigned to the Army’s elite 82nd Airborne Division, Lee deployed to Iraq with an infantry battalion of fellow paratroopers in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
In 2007, Lee returned to Suffolk County with his family. It was at this time that Lee transitioned from Active Duty to the Army Reserve, where he currently serves with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
In 2008, Lee established a successful law practice in Smithtown, NY. Elected to the New York State Senate two years later, in 2010, Lee’s been working hard every day since to keep the promises he made to the hard-working families he represents.
In the State Senate, Lee successfully fought to repeal the MTA Payroll Tax for 80 percent of employers, a job killing tax that was hurting small businesses. Lee led the successful efforts to repeal the Saltwater Fishing License Fee and create the PFC Joseph Dwyer Program, a statewide program in New York to help our returning veterans cope with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Lee also wrote the law that protects our fallen veterans and their families from protests at military burials. 
Lee was then elected to the United States Congress in 2014, representing New York’s First Congressional District, and quickly became a leading voice in America on top local, domestic and foreign policy issues.
Lee has secured many key victories for Long Island, which have included among many other successes:
Saving Plum Island, by securing the repeal of a 2008 federal law requiring the island to be sold off to the highest bidder. He also secured funding to repair the historic Plum Island Lighthouse and funding necessary to remediate environmental concerns on the island. 
  • Delivering a $2 billion Electron Ion Collider project to Brookhaven National Lab.
  • Securing $8.3 billion in much needed funding to support treatment, enforcement, and prevention for those affected by the heroin and opioid abuse crisis.
  • Working with the Army Corps of Engineers to protect our coastlines, advancing the ambitious $1.5 billion Fire Island to Montauk Point project, in addition to several other vital projects on the north and south shores of Long Island.
  • Co-Chairing the Long Island Sound Caucus and delivering vast quantities of funding for the Long Island Sound Program, National Estuary Program and SeaGrant.
  • Introducing and passing into law his Adult Day Health Care legislation for disabled veterans and opening a new health care clinic for East End veterans.
  • Co-authoring a bipartisan resolution (H.Res. 246) that passed the House opposing the anti-Israel and anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement.
  • Successfully resolving over 17,000 constituent cases in favor of NY-1 residents.
One of only two Jewish Republicans in Congress, Lee co-chairs the House Republican Israel Caucus, and serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and Financial Services Committee. He also serves on four House Subcommittees.
Lee and his wife, Diana, reside in Shirley with their twin fifteen-year old daughters, Mikayla and Arianna.
