Congressman Zeldin Statement Following Kathy Hochul’s Meeting with Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg

NEW YORK – Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), who has been named the presumptive nominee for Governor of New York by both the New York Republican and Conservative Parties, issued the following statement after Kathy Hochul’s statement regarding her meeting this afternoon with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg:

“Kathy Hochul’s statement following her meeting with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg was pathetically weak. She didn’t fire Alvin Bragg. She didn’t denounce his memo or even disagree with any part of it. Think about that! In fact, Alvin Bragg said they have a ‘shared vision’. It’s no surprise she was the last person in St. Patrick’s Cathedral to join in today’s standing ovation for NYPD Officer Jason Rivera’s widow, Dominique, when she called for strengthening public safety laws and singled out Alvin Bragg. DA Bragg needs to be removed ASAP, but Hochul has revealed herself as a stooge of the far-left who is too scared to even simply criticize Bragg for his refusal to enforce the law. Both of them need to leave elected office immediately and start up a business together dedicated to what is now clearly their highest priority – keeping their ‘Criminals for Kathy’ coalition out of prison.”

Congressman Zeldin: Hochul Must Fire Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg Tomorrow

NEW YORK – Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), who has been named the presumptive nominee for Governor of New York by both the New York Republican and Conservative Parties, is calling on Governor Kathy Hochul to fire Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg tomorrow during their meeting due to his refusal to enforce the law: 
“Kathy Hochul has been pathetically silent on the need to condemn and remove pro-criminal Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. New Yorkers need action and they need their leaders to protect law-abiding New Yorkers, not criminals. The Governor has the power to fire District Attorneys who do not enforce the law. With DA Alvin Bragg downgrading felonies to misdemeanors and refusing to prosecute some crimes altogether, Kathy Hochul must fire him on the spot tomorrow when they meet in Manhattan.

Instead of pledging to take action to fix our state’s disastrous cashless bail law or provide judges with the discretion they need to do their jobs and keep our communities safe or fire District Attorneys who refuse to enforce the law like Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, Kathy Hochul doubles down on her obsessive pandering to her far-left base. Congressman Zeldin Slams DA Bragg’s Downgrading of Felonies to Misdemeanors, Continues Demand Hochul Remove Him

NEW YORK – Today, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), who has been declared the presumptive nominee for Governor of New York by both the Republican and Conservative Parties, issued the following statement following Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office downgrading another felony robbery charge to a misdemeanor of petit larceny:

“The rest of us refuse to accept this as the new normal in Manhattan. Commit a robbery, threatening to stab your target with a knife, and under new Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg your charges will be reduced across the board! It’s clear Alvin Bragg sides with criminals with long rap sheets rather than law-abiding New Yorkers and law enforcement. The DA is refusing to do his job so Kathy Hochul must do hers and use her explicit constitutional authority to remove Alvin Bragg. Her pathetic silence is deafening!”

NEW YORK – On Monday, January 10, 2022, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), who has been named the presumptive nominee for Governor of New York by both the New York Republican and Conservative Parties, was joined by New York City Council Minority Leader Joe Borelli, Councilwoman Inna Vernikov, Councilwoman Joann Ariola, and others, slamming Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and calling for his removal by the New York Governor following his announcement that he would downgrade or not prosecute certain crimes across the board.

During his State of the State rebuttal last week, Congressman Zeldin stated he would remove any District Attorneys who refuse to enforce the laws on the books.
According to the New York State Constitution, the Governor of New York has the ability to remove District Attorneys who fail to enforce the law, and Congressman Zeldin is calling on Governor Kathy Hochul to wield that power to protect the safety of New Yorkers and local law enforcement officers.
