NEW YORK – Today, Suffolk County Conservative Party Chairman Michael Torres endorsed Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) for Governor of New York State. This is the first County Conservative Party endorsement of the 2022 Gubernatorial race.

Suffolk County Conservative Party Chairman Michael Torres said, “In Suffolk County, we have had the privilege of being represented by Congressman Lee Zeldin, first in the State Senate and now in Congress, and we’ve witnessed firsthand the results he’s delivered for the Long Islanders he’s served. After our meeting last night, his home county Conservative Party voted overwhelming to lend its full support and endorsement to him as we fight to save our state. There’s no doubt in my mind that Lee Zeldin will restore our state to one we can be proud of.”

The Suffolk County Conservative Party represents 10% of the New York State Conservative Party’s weighted gubernatorial vote. Congressman Zeldin needs to surpass 50% to become the official designee of the Conservative Party for Governor.

NEW YORK – Today, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), who launched his campaign for Governor of New York on April 8, 2021, issued the following statement on the newly released Siena College Poll, which showed Governor Cuomo’s reelection prospects continuing to plummet:

“This latest poll confirms what I’ve been hearing from New Yorkers all across our state – Cuomo’s Gotta Go, and it’s going to take a new generation of leadership to get the job done,” said Congressman Zeldin. “New Yorkers from all walks of life feel like this is a last stand to save our state, and they’re all in on this campaign. The new Siena College Poll shows:

• Governor Cuomo’s favorability at 40-52 (down from 43-45 last month);
• Cuomo’s job performance at 42-56 (down from 46-52 last month);
• Cuomo’s hard re-elect at 33 (down from 34 last month); and
• Congressman Zeldin’s favorability up 18-17.

Yesterday, Congressman Zeldin announced he raised over $2.5 million in the first 10 days of his campaign for governor.

Since announcing, Congressman Zeldin has traveled the state, continuing his 7 county campaign swing this weekend from Western New York to the Capital Region. Campaign events and meetings have been taking place in Erie, Niagara, Ontario, Onondaga, Broome, Schenectady and Albany Counties.
