Congressman Lee Zeldin Slams State Legislature’s Attempt to Jam Through Anti-Law Enforcement, Pro-Criminal Agenda at End of Session This Week

PRESS RELEASE

NEW YORK – Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) issued the following statement slamming New York State Legislature Democrats as they attempt to jam through anti-law enforcement, pro-criminal bills at the end of the legislative session this week. This effort includes a bill to enact mandatory parole eligibility, which would result in prematurely releasing dangerous criminals onto our streets, a bill to limit law enforcement’s use of a criminal’s DNA and biometric data, legislation to strip officers of vital resources and other anti-public safety measures.
“As New Yorkers of all stripes are being targeted, attacked and terrorized on our streets by violent criminals, instead of providing our law enforcement officers with every possible resource they need to protect New Yorkers, Democrat politicians in Albany are continuing to undermine our brave law enforcement officers while siding with criminals and releasing more dangerous inmates onto our streets. This pro-criminal, anti-law enforcement agenda only serves to further endanger New Yorkers, and is the entirely wrong direction for our state. The State Legislature must immediately reverse course and stop attempts to jam through these bills this week.”

Congressman Lee Zeldin Statement on Anti-2A, Anti-Liberty Bill S1048A

PRESS RELEASE

NEW YORK – Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) issued the following statement on S1048A, which makes gun manufacturers liable for individual gun owners’ actions:
“There are geniuses running Albany right now who think that their next anti 2nd Amendment, anti-liberty act should be to drive gun manufacturers out of New York, like Remington Arms in Ilion. That’s exactly what S1048A would accomplish. This bill is a terrible idea that will put New Yorkers out of work as a result of massively flawed, partisan reasoning. Manufacturers will close up shop and move to a more business friendly state, leaving scores of unemployed New Yorkers in their wake. This is the WRONG direction for our state!”

Assemblyman Joe DeStefano said, Now more than ever, New Yorkers need a leader in Albany who will stand up to the radical anti-police, anti-safety agenda propagated by Andrew Cuomo Cuomo and his far-left New York City cronies. Lee Zeldin has always stood up for safety and security. Whether it be during his service in Iraq with the U.S. Army, or his fierce advocacy on behalf of New Yorkers as a NYS senator and congressman, he has always been a staunch supporter of police, law enforcement, and public safety.  Lee will be a governor committed to the rule of law, and will help to save our state.”
Assemblyman David DiPietro said, “Lee Zeldin has always stood shoulder to shoulder with members of enforcement and is exactly what New York needs to save our state from the crime wave that has occurred as a result of Andrew a Cuomo’s failed policies. As governor, Lee Zeldin will work night and day to reverse Cuomo’s disastrous anti-police policies, and restore law and order. I am proud to endorse him.”
Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan said, “When Law Enforcement needed our support the most, Andrew Cuomo caved to the radical left, and our state has seen a dramatic rise in crime. I am proud to endorse Lee Zeldin for Governor because I know he will never put criminals above law-abiding citizens, and will always work hard for the working class New Yorkers I am honored to represent.”
Assemblyman Jarrett Gandolfo said, “Lee Zeldin is the fighter New York needs to save our state. Whether it be admirably serving our nation in the U.S. Army, protecting our shores and environment, advocating on behalf of law enforcement, or cutting taxes, Lee has shown he has what it takes to turn our state around. He is the right person at the right time to take on the corrupt Andrew Cuomo.”
Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio said, “New York was once known as the premiere place to do business, but Andrew Cuomo’s high-tax agenda has decimated our economy and forced many to flee in search of a more prosperous, affordable place to live. Lee Zeldin has what it takes to stop this exodus, and once again make the Empire State fertile ground for American ingenuity and opportunity.  I am proud to support his campaign for governor.”
Assemblyman Colin Schmitt said, “Andrew Cuomo’s many scandals demonstrate his lack of integrity, disregard for the public, and inability to lead our state. As a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserve, former state senator, and current congressman Lee Zeldin has always put his community and country before himself. He has proven himself to be a leader who always delivers, and has shown his ability to return the Empire State to its former glory.”
Assemblyman Doug Smith said, “Andrew Cuomo has punished New York’s middle class with his pro criminal agenda, high taxes, and disdain for police, but he has also used his office for profit as New Yorkers suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic. New York needs a governor who can lead with integrity, who understands the struggles of everyday working people, and who will always fight for our families. New York needs Lee Zeldin.”
Assemblyman Chris Tague said, “New York needs a champion for working people and families now more than ever, and I am confident Lee Zeldin is the best person to defeat Andrew Cuomo and bring common sense back to Albany. For years now, Andrew Cuomo has worsened our business climate, driven families and businesses out of the state, stood up for criminals and against law enforcement and public safety, and ignored our constitutional rights.”

New York Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar Declares Congressman Lee Zeldin Conservative Party’s “Presumptive Nominee” for Governor

PRESS RELEASE

NEW YORK – Today, New York State Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar declared Congressman Lee Zeldin the Conservative Party’s “presumptive nominee” for Governor of New York. Congressman Zeldin has been endorsed by 76% and growing of the Conservative Party’s weighted vote.
New York State Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar said, “During these past months as Lee made his decision to run and embarked on his extensive travels to meet with our leaders and the citizens in all parts of the state, I was pleased with the level of support he was receiving from within the Party. County after county, leader after leader endorsed Lee. Excitement was clearly building with many party activists reaching out to me indicating they felt good about our chances of taking back the State next year. This past week, with the endorsement of the St. Lawrence County Conservative Party, Lee hit the 76% mark, which in my view now makes him the presumptive candidate of the Party. His support continues to grow with new County endorsements expected to follow based on calls I have received in the past three days. As our presumptive nominee, I will move from being a longtime personal supporter to leading the Party on his behalf as we plan for a November 2022 victory.”
Congressman Lee Zeldin said, “It’s an honor to be earning this much strong, early support from every corner of our state, especially the principled members of the New York State Conservative Party. Under the leadership of Chairman Kassar, the Conservative Party understands that this election is bigger than any one of us. This election is a fight for the future of our state, a fight to restore New York to glory. I’m humbled by the Conservative Party’s rock solid, unified commitment to my candidacy as we fight together every day for the next year and a half to Save Our State.
The formal New York Conservative Party endorsements are done by a weighted vote of the State Committee at a convention early next year.
