NEW YORK – Today, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), the Republican Party and Conservative Party Nominee for Governor, joined local residents as they rallied against the demolition of Wagner Park in Manhattan outside the Battery Park City Authority’s (BPCA) monthly meeting.

Today, the BPCA voted to approve the Final Environmental Impact Study (FEIS), which is a step that must be completed to start the demolition.

About Lee Zeldin

Lee Zeldin was born and raised on Long Island. He grew up in Suffolk County and graduated from William Floyd High School in Mastic Beach, where his identical twin daughters attend school today. “Thank you to everyone who reached out expressing concern regarding the shooting outside my home this afternoon around 2:18pm.

“My 16 year old daughters, Mikayla and Arianna, were at our house doing homework, while my wife, Diana, and I were in the car, having just departed the Bronx Columbus Day Parade in Morris Park.

“After my daughters heard the gunshots and the screaming, they ran upstairs, locked themselves in the bathroom and immediately called 911. They acted very swiftly and smartly every step of the way and Diana and I are extremely proud of them.

“The two individuals who were shot were laying down under my front porch and the bushes in front of our porch. My understanding is that they have been transported to area hospitals. I do not know their identities.

“Law enforcement is currently at our house. My entire family is at home working with the investigators and providing the security footage from our home cameras.

“My daughters are shaken, but ok. Like so many New Yorkers, crime has literally made its way to our front door. My family is grateful to all who have reached out and we will provide another update when we can.

Raises Over $19.6 Million Since Announcing for Governor, From Over 77,000 Donations

NEW YORK – Since announcing his bid for Governor of New York on April 8, 2021, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), the Republican Party and Conservative Party nominee for Governor, has now raised over $19.6 million, making him the best funded statewide Republican challenger in New York history.

Since his last fundraising report in July, Congressman Zeldin raised over $6.4 million from more than 26,500 donations. While Kathy Hochul tried boasting earlier today that 60% of her donations were under $200, Congressman Zeldin actually hauled in far more grassroots support than Hochul with over 91% of his donations being $200 or less. In fact, 70% of his donations were $50 or less. Since announcing his candidacy for Governor, Congressman Zeldin has received over 77,000 donations.

“Kickback Kathy is desperate to cash in on as many pay to play campaign donations as possible, selling access to our government so she can try to cover up her abysmal record on the issues most important to New Yorkers,” said Congressman Zeldin. “In stark contrast, 91% of our donations were $200 dollars or less from everyday hardworking New Yorkers, including donations from every county across the state. This is a grassroots movement. We have the issues on our side, we have the momentum on our side and on November 8, we’re going to Fire Kathy Hochul and restore New York to glory.”
