Congressman Lee Zeldin Statement on Letitia James Announcing Primary Against Kathy Hochul

NEW YORK – Today, Congressman Zeldin (R, NY-1), who has been named the presumptive nominee for Governor of New York by both the New York Republican and Conservative Parties, issued the following statement following New York Attorney General Letitia James’ announcement that she will primary New York Governor Kathy Hochul in the Democratic Party Primary:

“I welcome Letitia James to the race, although with her entry to the Democratic Party primary, the ever expanding Democrat field only consists of candidates who are far-left, wannabe far-left, and even farther left. The Democratic Party primary field only provides New Yorkers with one option, the continuation of the attacks on our freedoms, our wallets, our safety, and our kids’ education. To restore New York to glory, we must stop cashless bail and the defund the police agenda, sky high punishing taxes, top-down government mandates, eroding quality of education, and the continued demise of our state. If we are going to Save Our State, it starts by restoring a political and geographic balance of power to Albany. It starts by enacting commonsense policies that benefit everyday New Yorkers, and it starts by ending one-party rule in November of 2022.”

Congressman Lee Zeldin Slams Release of Another 1981 Brinks Robbery-Murders Perpetrator, Calls for Parole Board Changes and Laws for Cop Killers to Change

NEW YORK – Today, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), who has been named the presumptive nominee for Governor of New York by both the New York Republican and Conservative Parties, issued the following statement after David Gilbert, who took part in the 1981 robbery of a Brink’s armored vehicle that resulted in the murders of Brink’s security guard Peter Paige and Nyack Police Sergeant Edward O’Grady and Officer Waverly Brown, was granted parole:

“Not even a week ago, the family and friends of Brink’s security guard Peter Paige and Nyack Police Sergeant Edward O’Grady and Officer Waverly Brown came together to honor their service and sacrifice on the 40th anniversary of their death in the line of duty. There is nothing that can be done to bring back these brave men, but many found solace in knowing that their murderers were behind bars. As of today, that is no longer the case.

“For these families, time will not heal all wounds, and the Cuomo-Hochul Administration has made sure they never forget it, commuting not one, but two of these perpetrators’ sentences. Now, these cop-killers are back on the streets. I strongly oppose these Parole Board decisions and these murderers’ release and stand with these families as they forever mourn their loved ones who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our communities.

“The composition of the New York State Board of Parole clearly needs to change and a new law needs to be enacted so that cop killers do not walk free like David Gilbert will now.”

Congressman Lee Zeldin Continues to Stand with New York’s Finest

NEW YORK – Today, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), who has been named the presumptive nominee for Governor of New York by both the New York Republican and Conservative Parties, once again voiced his support for New York City’s police officers, firefighters and other first responders who will lose their paycheck should they fail to provide proof of vaccination by the end of the month thanks to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s vaccine mandate for city workers:

“These are the men and women who selflessly serve their communities courageously each and every day, who kiss their families goodbye not knowing whether or not they’ll see them again. No one, especially our communities’ first responders who sacrificed so much throughout the pandemic, should be fired for not providing proof of the COVID vaccination. Defying all common sense, this mandate fails to provide any effective alternatives like a testing option. Instead of supporting New York’s first responders, this tyrannical policy is turning these heroes into zeroes and is the entirely wrong direction for our city and state. An exodus of these brave men and women will lead to a further deterioration of public safety in our already crime ridden communities.”

Congressman Lee Zeldin, State Senate Leader Rob Ortt, NYGOP Nick Langworthy Headline Veterans for Zeldin Event in Niagara County

NORTH TONAWANDA, NY – On Saturday, October 23, 2021, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), who has been named the presumptive nominee for Governor of New York by both the New York Republican and Conservative Parties, joined State Senate Republican Leader and Army veteran Rob Ortt, New York Republican Party Chairman Nick Langworthy, Niagara County Republican Committee Chairman Richard Andres, Erie County Republican Committee Chairman and Air Force veteran Karl Simmeth, and local veterans for a Veterans for Zeldin event at American Legion Sikora Post 1322 in North Tonawanda, New York.
Senator Rob Ortt said, “In August, I was proud to endorse Lee Zeldin to be New York’s next Governor, and I am just as proud to stand beside him today. Like me, Lee volunteered to serve his country by joining the US Army. He is the battle-tested leader New York needs right now to restore public safety, cut taxes, and make government work for the forgotten men and women of our state. He is building a movement that will shock the Democrat political establishment in Albany on November 8, 2022.”
“Like so many New Yorkers, veterans across our state are fed up with the one-party rule that has continued the attacks on our freedoms, our wallets and our safety. They’re tired of Albany playing political games with the essential programs they have earned, like the Dwyer Program, and they’re ready to make a change that will restore New York to glory. I’m honored to have the support of so many veterans across this state, including Senate Republican Leader Ortt, who have bravely defended our nation and now are ready to Save Our State,” stated Congressman Lee Zeldin, candidate for New York State Governor.
Senator Ortt and Congressman Lee Zeldin rallied supporters at the American Legion Sikora Post 1322 to talk about veteran policies priorities in New York and nationally, and the need to support Republican candidates in upcoming New York elections.
“The disgraced Andrew Cuomo may no longer be our Governor, but his corrupt legacy looms large over the Democrats running our state into the ground. We need a strong and principled Governor who will focus on fighting for families and jobs, and stop NYC Socialists from taking complete control of Albany. I look forward to working with our next Governor Lee Zeldin to save our state,” closed Senator Rob Ortt.

Congressman Lee Zeldin Slams New Vaccine Mandate Targeting New York City Cops, Firefighters

NEW YORK – Today, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), who has been named the presumptive nominee for Governor of New York by both the New York Republican and Conservative Parties, issued the following statement after New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that members of the NYPD and FDNY will lose their paycheck should they fail to provide proof the COVID vaccination by the end of the month:

“Bill de Blasio is continuing his war on police and our brave first responders and solidifying his position as the Worst Mayor in America. These are the men and women who selflessly serve their communities courageously each and every day, who kiss their families goodbye not knowing whether or not they’ll see them again. No one, especially our communities’ first responders who sacrificed so much throughout the pandemic, should be targeted like this for not providing proof of the COVID vaccination. Defying all common sense, this mandate fails to provide any effective alternatives like a testing option. Instead of supporting New York’s first responders, this tyrannical policy is turning these heroes into zeroes and is the entirely wrong direction for our city and state.”

Congressman Zeldin Statement on Biden Administration Flying Migrants to New York

NEW YORK – Today, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), who has been named the presumptive nominee for Governor of New York by both the New York Republican and Conservative Parties, issued the following statement after reports that the Biden Administration is flying migrants from the southern border and placing them in New York State:

“This needs to end! The Biden Administration is massively failing to secure our southern border and secretly flying people in the dead of night to New York and other locations throughout the country. This is worse than incompetence. They know exactly what they are doing and they are doing it anyway no matter how shady, dangerous, and costly the decision. November 2022 can’t come fast enough! The trifecta of Biden in the White House, Hochul in the Governor’s Mansion, and de Blasio in Gracie Mansion is causing enormous damage on so many fronts.”
